The Face
The Face accompanies Qaher Harhash on his journey from Berlin to his home in East Jerusalem. He has not been there for five years. Harhash, who became known as the “first palestinian model”, moved to Germany to realize his dream of becoming a model. His face adorned campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Prestigious clients, but the commissions are dwindling. He asks himself: “Am I being booked because I’m Palestinian?” Or am I not being booked because I’m Palestinian?”
He has this inner conflict again and again. The breakthrough does not come, money becomes scarce. He realizes that he has no future in Berlin.
The Face shows the last hours in Berlin, when war threatens to break out in the Middle East. The worse the news, the more homesick he feels.
The story portrays the inner turmoil of a young man who doesn’t seem to fit into any world and longs for a self-determined life. Harhash has many questions to which there are still no answers. Where do I actually belong? How do I find my place in life?
